停车记

Posted in Random Crap at 20:58 by kitty

他点头说是,还说“You can’t park like this, there’s no way I can get into my car.”真是的,难道我想停成这样,我也不想啊,我都折腾半天了,可是这车就是不听我的指挥。我没好意思说出我的想法,只好问他:“Can you park for me?”谁知这人没同情心,摇摇头说:“You park, I can guide you.”

Justice served!

Posted in Random Crap at 18:22 by panda

So, I’m coming home from work, taking McNeil to Round Rock…as always. Doing 50 to 55mph…which the speed limit is 50mph. Just cruising. Well, red truck comes tailing up behind me, tailgates me for awhile, and shoots around me and speeds off. Always happen. People always drives about 70 down that road. Meh…whatever…and then he sees a cop pulled to the side…so he slows down. He passes the cop and the cop immediately turns on his lights and pull up behind the guy and pulls him over. Ha ha! Justice served. :)

And I gotta say it, it felt good seeing it. Hells yeah. :)

On other news, I talked to an UT admissions adviser today. My F’s are messing me up and there’s no way I can get admitted into UT right now. But, if I wait until 2012, then a Texas law allows me to have any class older than 10 years to be not considered at all. Oh yeah! So, in the meantime, I have classes to take to meet the requirements for getting into the college of business. Woooo~!

So, I just gotta make sure the classes I take at ACC I do my best and not get ANYTHING less than an A to keep my GPA up so I’ll be a hella strong candidate for Fall 2012. :) Let’s do this! :D

Mouse problem? Call Nancy! ^-^

Posted in Random Crap at 14:57 by panda

So, a couple of weeks back, as I was driving out of the garage to pick Nancy up from work, I saw something dart across the garage. Needless to say, after some looking around, I found a field mouse in our garage. Some droppings around the garage confirms that we have a mouse in the garage. I added mouse traps to my shopping list but have yet to get to Home Depot/Lowes to purchase said trap.

Fast forward to today. We’re practicing parallel parking in front of the house today when all of a sudden, while Nancy was backing up, we felt the car dip a little. Uh-oh. Did we run over a dog? A cat maybe? I get out to check.

I look at the back wheels…nothing. No blood. Better yet, no screaming mother. I kneel down and look under the car…nothing. Hm…that’s odd. Maybe it was just the road is mis-shapened? I started walking back toward the car when something caught my eye. There’s something on the front wheel. Red…gooey…gush. Look further out in front of the car and what do I see? Our mouse problem. Only…it’s not a problem anymore.

I get in the car and trying not to laugh, I ask Nancy, “Remember our mouse problem?”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“Not a problem anymore.”

“Are you serious?!”

“Just keep practicing.”

Of course, no one can focus on practice after that. Nancy completes two more parallel parking flawlessly and then turns off the car. We get out to examine the damage. She tells me to go clean up the mess. :(

So, a shovel, garbage bag, and some water later. I get the mess all cleaned up. Only…now it smells like wet animal. Oh well, good thing it’s a windy day today. :) I guess it wasn’t wrong to give Nancy the nickname of “Kitty” after all. :p

Texas DPS efficiency

Posted in Random Crap at 15:15 by panda

So, let’s start by explaining. DPS is Department of Public Safety. They do all the driving stuff. Your DMV, technically.

So, let’s start the story. Nancy feels she’s ready for the test, so I’ve been trying to get that going. So, I called the DPS office and told them that I’d like to schedule a driving test for my wife. The lady tells me that you can not schedule a driving test over the phone. It has to be done in person.

OK. Lame. That’s stupid…so we have to show up in person to schedule a driving test, then come back for the test? That’s very stupid. But, whatever. If that’s the way things work, then fine.

So, after a week or so, I determined that sometime soon I’d like to go in and schedule the test, so Nancy suggested I call again and get all the details on what I need to bring so I don’t waste a trip out there. So, I call again and a guy picks up the phone. I tell him that I’d like to schedule a driving test for my wife and that I understand I need to do it in person. I asked him what I would need to bring and does she have to be there in person or can I schedule it for her. He tells me that all we need is the receipt we received when we got her driver’s permit and she doesn’t have to be there in person. Okay, that sounds great.

So last night, I get all the stuff I needed from Nancy and I go in today after work to schedule the test. The place was packed and there was only one receptionist. So I get in line and waited. After twenty minutes, I get up to the front and I tell her that I’d like to schedule a test for my wife. She tells me that it’s waaaaaay too late in the evening to schedule a driving test. I say that’s fine, since we didn’t want to take the test today anyways. She tells me that they don’t do ahead scheduling, it’s done on the same day and on a first come, first server basis.

I could feel a bunch of pressure build up in my gut and I reminded myself to calm down, take a breath. It’s only Texas. Nothing works in common sense or reason. So I just thank the lady and left.

So…but…what the F-?! Any of that make sense? I guess not. I mean, was it too much to tell me the test was same day? Why tell me that she doesn’t have to be there in person…when the test is same day on first come, first serve?! Different culture maybe?

Just maybe….just maybe.

Uh-huh…yeah

Posted in Random Crap at 5:37 by panda

So yesterday, I spent most of the day at Pete’s house. He showed me how to make the bread, just in case I’m messing something up since my bread wasn’t rising properly. So, but he made some for me to take home and bake myself and my God, it is good! Imagine a loaf of white bread…that looked and tasted like croissant!! MMMMM~! Yummi dummi.  I can’t wait to try to make the whole thing myself…although I’ll have to cut down the recipe some since the recipe will yield two loaves of a pound each.

On darker news….I was just sitting here…enjoying my Honey Nut Cheerios at work. About 3/4 through it, I don’t know why, but I looked down into the bowl and there were three ants  floating in it. Uh…yeah….threw that out really quick. Gonna have to figure out why there were ants in my cereal and maybe really consider putting my cereal in them air tight containers….yeah…

Made it to Shanghai

Posted in Random Crap at 23:45 by panda

We’ve just made it to Shanghai. What a ride it was. Took about two hours. The first half was a pretty decent ride..until we got into Shanghai city. That’s when we found the real driving skills of the driver. Hard on the gas, hard on the brakes. Quick to release the brakes, quick to release the gas. Rocking back and forth hard. Felt like crap. But, thank you God, we’ve made it!

The room isn’t too bad. Not too pricey either. Looks clean. We’ll find out how the well the shower works tomorrow. Hopefully, it’s nothing like QingDao’s shower at the hotel we stay at. That was horrible. Water dripping from the ceiling, the shower mat has some sort of algea growing on it. The faucet to the sink took up half the sink so you could barely use it comfortably. The handles was just one piece so it was hard to adjust the water. Very cruddy.
