As we all know, we’ve bought a new couch. If you didn’t know, browse our archives.
So, we’ve been trying to sell our couch online on Craigslist for $50. Never heard anything. Turns out, our ad got pulled. Don’t know why. Guess they didn’t like my email address or something. Oh well, we figure we’d re-list it using Nancy’s account since she used her real email address there. Well, we never got around to it.
Earlier this week, there was an ad near our mailbox about a neighborhood garage sale. The community was doing a garage sale and all we had to do was put our stuff in the driveway and sell it. Very simple. Although Nancy and I woke up at six in the morning today, by the time we’ve got done showering and doing our own thing, it was already 9:30. We took our couch out and put out a for sale sign as well as some of Nancy’s knick knacks. We sat in our garage and played some chess while we waited. Nobody ever stopped by or even looked.
Nothing.
Oh well, so we decided what the heck. Let’s just put it on the curb and take off the for sale sign and see if it’ll go away just like the coffee table did. Lo and behold! We just checked outside. The couch is gone.
Wah ha ha ha ha! That’s great. We’re two for two in putting large items out and people DO want it. Sweetness.
Now I have this huge extra space in my formal dining! What am I going to do with all that space?! Hum…what junk can I put there?
BTW, I got sunburned mowing the lawn today.
Figured I mow the lawn while I waited.
It’s all Nancy’s fault.

So, lots of things gone wrong this week. The phones stopped working. Fried board. Worked with the phone company until about 9pm at night, my time.
Then one day, the mail server in Vegas just dies. RAID 5 for redundancy, 6 drives. Will still work when up to two drives fail. Three if you have a spare. Our server? Two drives failed and the spare failed. Ha ha!
Failed in the middle of a backup, so we gotta lose one day of mail. Not by choice. So, been busting butt since yesterday trying to restore the data and move it over to another server. Due to bottle necks, processing very very slow. We let the restore run for15 or so hours before we stopped it and decide to restore to backup server since we finally managed to clear up some space. Restored much much quicker. Now we’re trying to copy. Faster if we initiated multiple copies.
We’re done to one folder left. The folder with everybody’s emails. Well, there are 248 folders inside it. So, I figure, we have two machines copying, let’s split in half. That’ll halve the copy time. So, I list out the folders and select the top half on one computer. Go and select the same amount of files on the second computer….wait a minute….the last folder selected doesn’t match? What? Tried resorting, sorting via different ways. Same thing, they’re always off…by a few folders.
It seems like the way Windows sorts files on Windows 2000 and Windows XP…are slightly different.
Well, can’t start two copies now. Won’t know what has been copied and what hasn’t. Was going to have one pc do 124 files, the other do the remaining 124 files…but if you can’t even get the damn thing to sort the same way….
Back to one pc copying. Probably going to take 6 to 7 hours. Maybe more.
*sigh*
